70 MHz Cumulative Contest 2020
The comments from the last session, 9th August, suggested a low level of activity, but actually entries were up from the previous session. It was good to see the portable stations back on the air. This session stood out with the best ODX for all the sessions - 768 Kms between GM4ODA/P (IO99) and GW8ASD (IO83) with GW8ASD only running 40 watts.
Many thanks for the check logs from G4BXD and G8CMU.
One comment I would make, and one station was guilty of it, can we have realistic RST reports, not just the rubber stamp 59(9). Proper reports are a great help to participants to gauge the need for repeats of information and checking details during the QSO. Overall, adjudication errors were low.
Overall for the year.
There were 82 entries for this year's Cumulative Contest, very similar to last year [83 in 2019]. We had restrictions from the Covid lockdown which meant some sessions were missing some portable activity.
Chris G4FZN(P) was at the top of the leader board in the open section with a resounding lead over 2nd place Steve GW0GEI. The restricted section winner was Tony GW8ASD, with Charlie G0SKA as runner up.
In the low power section, Roger G0NRL was the leader with Richard G4HGI coming in 2nd place.
Certificates are awarded to Chris 2E0YYB and Donna M7DON as the highest placed Intermediate and Foundation Licensees respectively, Frank PE1EWR as the leading (only) non-UK&CD entry.
